Community Opportunity Fund Proposal Update
We officially submitted our Community Opportunity Fund proposal for Rossi Park on March 26, 2026.
Thank you to all of the neighbors, families, park users, and community partners who shared ideas, wrote letters of support, and encouraged this effort. We are incredibly grateful for the response and for the care so many people clearly have for Rossi Park.
We feel good about the proposal we were able to submit and believe it reflects practical improvements that would make the park safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable for everyday use. We expect to hear back around June 2026 regarding whether the proposal is approved and which elements, if any, are selected for funding.
Elements included in the submitted proposal:
- Replacement multi-tier drinking fountain near the tennis courts with bottle filling and pet access
- Picnic tables outside the fenced playground and ball court area to provide seating for park users, spectators, and families
- Community bulletin board near the pool building to support neighborhood communication and community events
- Ball court improvements including replacement benches, nets, updated backboards and rims, and a small barrier between basketball and pickleball courts
- Replacement or improvement of bleacher seating at the baseball/softball field
- Installation of a simple manual scoreboard for the baseball/softball field
- Modest, timer-controlled lighting near the playground area designed to improve early evening visibility while remaining sensitive to nearby neighbors
Based on guidance from the San Francisco Recreation and Park staff managing the COF process, we did not include a mural in this proposal. We still care about that idea and hope to explore it as a future park improvement project, potentially in coordination with the San Francisco Arts Commission.
We are hopeful that some of these improvements will be approved and that they will help enhance the experience of the many people who use and enjoy Rossi Park.
